Joining the Tyldesley Model Flying Club

Tyldesley Model Flying Club is a private members club and is under no obligation to take membership from any person at any time. That said, in the 50 year history of the club, less than a handful of people have been refused membership and at this time membership is open to applicants. The club seeks to promote a friendly environment for the hobby of model flying and welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds. It is the policy of the club, however that members must ensure they are fit and capable of flying a model safely and in line with published BMFA guidelines – the club does not conduct assessments on member’s eyesight, health nor other key faculties required for this purpose – this remains at all times the responsibility of the member.

Applications are subject to a formal application process. This begins with an application form which we prefer to hand out in person rather than by e mail or by download. It is necessary therefore to come and meet the club in order to make an application for membership. This can be either at the flying field or at our monthly club meeting.

The application form is subjected to due process and the committee will ratify it or otherwise at the next available monthly club meeting. While your application is pending it is possible for you to use the club facilities as normal provided you have paid the applicable membership fees with submission of your paperwork and have arranged, either through the club or personally, Insurance cover through the British Model Flying Association.

The clubs membership year runs from 1st January to 31st December but reduced subscriptions will apply from September when they are halved.

If this is your first time at TMFC you will also need to pay the joining fee. This may be waived for historical members’ dependant on how long their membership has lapsed.

Please contact a member of the committee for joining fees and process.

Note: When a junior member joins with a parent/guardian, no joining fee is applicable for the junior, only the senior member.
